The apartment is centrally located, within walking distance to major sights like the Opera House, Vörösmarty tér, and The Danube River – Easily reachable by walking or public transport, offering beautiful views and river cruises.

Public Transportation – Metro, Trams, Buses

Public transportation is very convenient, with trolley buses 70 and 78 stopping right outside the building—these connect to Parliament, Keleti train station, and City Park. Trams 4 and 6 run nearby along the main circle road and connect you across the city in both directions. The yellow metro line (M1) stops at Opera and Oktogon, both just a short walk away, and takes you to Vörösmarty tér, Heroes Square, City Park, and the Széchenyi Baths.

Budapest has 4 metro lines that connect key areas of the city:

  1. M1 (Yellow Line): Runs from Vörösmarty tér to Hősök tere (Heroes’ Square), passing iconic spots like the Opera House and Deák Ferenc tér.
  2. M2 (Red Line): Connects Déli Pályaudvar (South Train Station) to Örs vezér tere, passing through Kossuth Lajos tér (near Parliament).
  3. M3 (Blue Line): Travels from Újpest Központ (North) to Kobánya-Kispest (South East), with stops at Nyugati Pályaudvar and Deák Ferenc tér.
  4. M4 (Green Line): Runs from Kelenföld to Keleti Pályaudvar, passing through Corvin-negyed and Deák Ferenc tér.
  5. Tram 4/6- runs on the semi-circle Korut that from the Petőfi híd to the south and the Margit bride to the north
  6. Tram 47-49:  both start at Deák Ferenc tér (15 minutes from the apartment) run through Astoria and Fővám tér, cross the Liberty Bridge, and while 47 ends at Kamaraerdei Ifjúsági Park, 49 continues to Kelenföld train station. 
  7. Bus 70:  runs from Erzsébet Királyné Útja, to Kossuth Lajos Tér M, serving 15 stops along the way.
  8. Bus 78: The 78 trolleybus, connecting Kossuth Lajos Tér M to Keleti Pályaudvar M (Garay utca). This line is especially useful for travelers near Király utca 34, as the Király utca / Erzsébet körút stop is located nearby, offering convenient access to the 78 trolleybus.
  9. Bus 210 and 105 : walk to the Oktogon M stop, then take either bus 105 or bus 210 towards Gyöngyösi utca M and get off at Hősök tere M (4 stops). This way, you can visit Heroes’ Square, City Park, and the Széchenyi Thermal Baths

Where to Buy Tickets for Public Transport

  1. Purple Machines
    Located at metro stations and tram stations, these are used for purchasing 100E Airport Shuttle tickets and other transport tickets.
  2. BudapestGO App
    You can purchase single tickets and travel cards directly through the BudapestGO app.

Ticket Validation

  • Validate your single ticket at yellow ticket stamping machines before entering the metro or boarding a bus/tram. 
  • For mobile tickets, activate them in the BudapestGO app before use.

 

TRAINS

If you’re traveling by train, Budapest has four main train stations: Nyugati, Keleti, Déli, and Kelenföld—each serving different directions and regions, so double-check which one your train uses. All are easily reachable by public transport or taxi from the apartment.

How to Buy Train Tickets in Budapest

  1. At the Train Station (In-Person):
    • You can purchase tickets directly at ticket counters or from automated ticket machines located at the station.
    • The ticket machines have English language options, and you can pay with cash or card.
  2. Online via MÁV (Hungarian State Railways):
    • Visit the official website: MÁV – Hungarian State Railways.
    • You can select your departure and arrival stations, pick your train, and pay directly on the site.
    • You have the option to receive electronic tickets that can be shown on your phone or printed.

 Third-Party Websites and Apps:

  • Use third-party services like Omio, Trainline, or Rail Europe to book tickets in advance, particularly for international travel. These sites may charge a small service fee but are convenient for booking trains across Europe.

 

RIDESHARE, SCOOTERS, BIKES

Other options include bike, scooter, and car sharing services such as Bubi, Lime, Dott, GreenGo, and MOL Limo.

Bubi (Bike Sharing):

  • Overview: Bubi is the official public bike-sharing service in Budapest, offering bikes for short trips around the city.
  • How to Use: You can rent a bike using the Bubi app. Once registered, you can pick up a bike at any docking station.
  • Pricing:
    • 50 HUF per minute (This rate applies for all bike rentals, so you’ll be charged based on the time you use the bike).

Parking Rules: Return bikes to any Bubi station. Bikes must be parked in designated docking areas. Avoid blocking pedestrian pathways or bike lanes.

  • Overview: Lime offers electric scooters for rent across Budapest, ideal for quick and eco-friendly trips.
  • How to Use: Simply open the Lime app, find an available scooter near you, and unlock it using the app.

Dott (Electric Scooters) and E-Bikes:

    • Overview: Dott provides electric scooters and E-Bikes that can be rented for short trips in Budapest, focusing on sustainability and convenience.
    • How to Use: Open the Dott app, find and unlock a scooter, then take a ride.
  • Download the App: Search for Dott in the App Store or Google Play Store and download the app.
  • Parking Rules: Park Dott scooters and E-bikes clear of traffic in designated parking zones marked in the app.
